This short article serves as an introduction to Elxis CMS.

You probably already know that Elxis is a web application that is written in PHP and uses a database to store content. Elxis is a Content Management System and an Application Framework. You can use it to build and administer a web site, and in the same time you can write code for it that extend its functionality. Elxis works with a variety of databases. You are not limited only on using MySQL.

Elxis can be installed and executed under both Linux and Windows environments on local or hosted systems.

Elxis is controlled using the administration panel. It is accesible by typing the URL of your site and then adding '/administrator', eg, http://www.mysite.com/administrator

Visiting your site
http://www.mysite.com
This is what your visitors see. It is your web site. It is the Front End.

Accessing the administration panel
http://www.mysite.com/administrator
This is from where you build your web site. It is the Back End.

Next we will go a little deeper on how a site is made with Elxis.
